After my first TRE session in 2019, I experienced an immediate, deep release from years of stress and held tension. I knew right then that I had to share it with others. For myself, TRE offered profoundly effective, immediate physical and emotional release.
What is TRE?
TRE® is an innovative series of seven exercises that assist the body in releasing the deepest muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, TRE safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, thereby calming down the nervous system. When the tremors are activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.
TRE® is based on the fundamental idea, backed by research, that stress, tension and trauma is both psychological and physical.
When we are exposed to stressful situations, our body's subconscious response is to contract certain muscles so that we are ready to take action to protect ourselves (the fight, flight or freeze response). We are born with the natural ability to shake off and release these muscle contractions. But early in life we become culturally conditioned to contain our fear and not show signs of weakness, to "power through it". Some of us wear our stress as a badge of honour. But in ignoring what our bodies are trying to tell us, recurring stressors continue to build and long-held tension can create chronic pain, most often in the neck, shoulders and lower back. Sometimes we're not even aware that we're still holding that tension long after the stressful event is over. We become numb to the tension in our bodies. When we are able to relax the muscles through TRE, we can turn off our sympathetic nervous system response and feel safe in our bodies. Who Can Benefit from TRE®?

Everyone can benefit from learning TRE®, from young children to seniors. You can do it on our own or with the entire family or a group. Once you learn how to access your body's natural neurogenic tremor mechanism, you can begin to release muscle tension. It provides deep relaxation which naturally reduces stress levels.
